Introduction

Posterity is a platform that allows you to make a plan in the event something happens to you. I was brought into the project when it was a few google docs and a great idea. I partnered with the co-founders to establish an MVP experience and define a visual language in the product that aligned with their brand.

Expressing the Brand Through the Interface

Products should express their brand values through their experience. With Posterity we did this by crafting an experience that was guided, clear, and encouraging

Crafting a Guided Experience

Due to the multi-step nature of creating end-of-life documents, I advocated for relying on step-by-step walkthrough experiences. These gave a clear indication of progress, and you could always exit without losing your place.

Illustrations to Soften the Hard Ideas

With insight from the brand guidelines put together by Jessi Brattengeier we relied on illustrations by Martin Nicollausen to communicate hard ideas like, inheritance, and funeral planning

A bit of Encouragement

From talking to people who were in the process of defining their will, we learned that planning for after you are gone can be a daunting experience. We found little ways to encourage our users to keep going and improve the health of their plan with the Posterity Score.

Impact

$1.2M

Posterity used this progressive web app MVP and some initial customer traction to secure a successful seed round investment.

1 MVP

The user flows and interactions we defined in this round of work defined the initial MVP and served as a foundation for the build out of the remainder of posterity.life.
